From a gathering to the open water

What started on 18 December 2022 as a group of friends has become a dragon boat community that races across borders, breaks budgets, and builds bonds that go far beyond the boat.

December 2022
The Beginning
Vizcachaz Dragon Boat is founded. What began as a casual gathering quickly became something more — a team, a community, a family on water.

VKK
Rachel Lim
"Pls fix, thx"
Abandoned her car, burned a hotel stay, presented at a management meeting, departed late for Penang — and still made it for 2 full days of racing.
VKK
Jin Heng
"I love Jurong West!"
Forgot his race tag at the Singapore Sea Regatta. Drove half an hour each way to collect it. Also the perpetual ankle-sprain-and-no-money guy.
VKK
Iqmal
"Take My Money"
Hold him back at any regatta merch stall, or next thing you know he's walking away with an armful of souvenir shirts.
VKK
Michelle
"Drills are Important"
A standout training moment immortalized on YouTube. The proof is at 3:21:19 for all to see.
VKK
Naz
"Powerhouse"
Despite her age and the vertical challenge of climbing boats in Jakarta, she puts younger paddlers to shame with her energy.
VKK
Chee Hoa
"Help Needed"
"Is he okay?" asks a concerned teammate, seeing his facial expression during training. The answer is yes. Probably.
VKK
U-Sern
"The Beer Factory"
Guaranteed to have beers in his hands after any regatta. Truly the life of his self-created party.
VKK
Wendy
"鸻蛋老板娘"
The unofficial breakfast champion, ensuring every paddler starts race day properly fueled. Egg Boss Lady energy.

Jeunn Hao
"One of Us!"
Got scamme— we mean graciously treated the entire team plus supporters to dinner during his very first regatta. Thank you (and Rachel)!

Honourable Mentions

Ashley
"MVP for Penang"
Everyone take note — that last banana is reserved for her.
Eu Jean
"International Debut Steerer"
Steered her very first race on the international stage in Jakarta. Kept everyone dry. Mostly.
Melvin
"Uptown Funk"
Put on a performance at Luck Bros Kopi as if possessed by Bruno Mars himself.
